Magazine Month

April 21 - Speaker will be Dr. Steven Stargardter, President of John F. Kennedy University speaking on the University's community outreach program. Greeter Bob Beaton.

Tuesday April 22 - Back to back meetings of Pres Lori's Board and Pres Elect Bob's Board. Barbara Jewell's office at 4:00 pm. Yep, that is 4:00 pm.

Rotary at Work Day April 26 - This little promoted activity is an International event. Those attending the District Conference will have the opportunity to assemble an LN-4 hand. Those not attending the conference are invited to participate in Lend a Hand Day in Danville – starts at 8:00 am at the Danville Community Center with a free BBQ at 3:15. See Bob Chace for an application to volunteer. Applications must be turned in by April 16th. Otherwise just go out and do something nice for someone less fortunate that day.

Greater Danville Open June 2 - Meeting at Reggie's home next Wednesday April 23. Call Reggie for directions. Every club member will receive $100 of drawing tickets to sell. Tickets will be mailed to your home if not picked up at the club.

Four Way Speech Runoff Contest – At San Ramon Valley Rotary last week. There were seven excellent presentations - a great evening. The winner, Elise Washburn from Miramonte High School will represent South District at the District Conference Finals on April 25. Don Schmitt is the District Coordinator.

Last Week - Brad Blake talked about College is Real, a program he started at Richmond High School to guide talented but underprivileged students towards college. The program is showing success. See Jim Crocker if you are interested in knowing more about the program.

District Assembly April 12 - Vacaville - The participant surveys are in and tabulated. Participants describe the event as fast paced and filled with good information. Jim Cambier spoke on Interact/Rotaract. Vic G led the membership discussion. Pres Elect Bob attended Foundation and Kevin Crockett chose administration.

District Conference -April 24 -26 at the Radisson in Sacramento. DG Stan Smalley's newest newsletter is now available at the District Website

Friday May 16 Del Amigo Breakfast - The club will visit the school and prepare a breakfast of sausages and pancakes for about 160 children. Earlybirds needed there at 7:00 am.

Saturday May 17 Multi-Club Fundraiser - Hold'em Poker Tournament. $100 buy in. Non-players $20 admission. Pleasant Hill 4 to 10. See Mike Burton.

Future News - Gary Cappelletti tells the club that he has lined up Sports Agent Mike Sullivan to speak at the Peter Villa Awards this fall. Great work, Gary!

Gold Nugget Drawing - This week the pot is $75.
